PamperedWeekends.com was founded in 2010. Initially its goal was to organize weekend retreats and day trips, to encourage people – women in particular – to plan recreation and relaxation into their schedules. Along the way, the company would be on the lookout for other activities that would equate with pampering.
Within the company’s first 15 months in business, after a day trip with a group of seniors, founder Bev Browne was inspired to start taking attractive yet practical comfort and medical shoes to retirement homes for the convenience of seniors.
Bev recognized that as people get older, they can have increased mobility issues; and going out to shop for shoes is hard work. Retirement homes generally welcomed vendors with clothing, but there were next to no vendors taking shoes to the homes. Taking comfort shoes to seniors was a practical extension of the company’s ideals.
Today, in the Greater Toronto Area, Pampered Weekends Comfort Shoes regularly sets up displays of footwear in many retirement homes. We take orthopedic and regular comfort shoes, and such accessories as insoles, diabetic and non-elastic socks.
We also work with professional foot care nurses. And we’re slowly expanding to areas beyond the GTA.
Even though our business has evolved from retreats and day trips, the kind of service we offer is still in keeping with our original goal:
“providing quality service that makes our clientele feel they’re being indulged.”
Clients often tell us how much they value the benefits they receive, since having shoes come to them is a great convenience!
On occasion, there are individuals who have very special needs. When requested, we’ll make personal visits to meet that need, working with the home or family members.
